NUMBER OF ABORTIONS IN MAINE BY COUNTY
The latest figures for abortions in Maine that are available from the Department of Human Services (DHS) are for 1998. The following table is drawn from their published figures and shows the number of residents of each county that are known to have had an abortion within Maine during the year of 1998. Only towns of more than 3,500 population that had at least 3 residents who had abortions are listed, so city totals that don't add to the county total are a result of statistics from the smaller towns. Other information, such as the ages, marital status, number of previous abortions, and education level of the women getting abortions, are included in the DHS report and can be obtained from DHS.
